Windows Server 2022 is the Long-Term Servicing Channel release of Microsoft's server operating system, built on the Windows 10 platform and covered by Microsoft security updates until October 2031. The Standard edition covers the everyday needs of small and medium-sized businesses: domain controller and Active Directory, DNS and DHCP, file and print services, web server with IIS, Remote Desktop host and virtualisation with Hyper-V. Its license allows two Windows Server virtual machines on the licensed host, plus unlimited Windows containers.

You download the installation media from the Microsoft website, install the Standard edition (Desktop Experience or Server Core), enter the key and activate online. The license is perpetual and does not expire; no subscription is required.

How to Activate:

1. Download the Windows Server 2022 installation media from the Microsoft website and install the Standard edition on your server.
2. Open Settings, System, Activation and enter the product key (on Server Core use the slmgr tool from the command prompt).
3. If you installed the evaluation edition, convert it to Standard with the DISM Set-Edition command and your key.
4. Activation completes online within a few minutes.
