McAfee Mobile Security - 1 Year License

McAfee Mobile Security is the smartphone and tablet app from McAfee LLC, one of the oldest names in consumer antivirus, combining malware scanning, safe browsing, Wi-Fi checks and monitoring of your personal data in a single subscription. It is aimed at people who use the phone for banking, shopping and messaging and want the same level of protection they already have on the computer, without a complicated setup. The subscription is redeemed with an activation code on the McAfee website and linked to a McAfee account; the McAfee Security app is then installed from Google Play or the App Store and signed in with that account.

This product is a license key for McAfee Mobile Security: it is valid for 1 year from activation on 1 mobile device and can be used on Android and iOS. The key is delivered by email together with the activation instructions.

The app opens on a protection score that lists what is still missing: switching on safe browsing, checking the network you are connected to, or reviewing which applications ask for sensitive permissions. The available features differ between Android and iOS, because the two systems allow different levels of access to the device.

Key Features:

• Malware and app scanning: On Android the app checks installed applications, downloads and memory cards and removes malicious or unwanted software before it can do any damage.
• Safe Browsing: Dangerous sites and links are blocked in the browser and in messages, which lowers the risk of falling for phishing while shopping or banking from the phone.
• Wi-Fi security check: The network you are connected to is analysed and you are warned about open or badly configured hotspots before you send passwords or card details over them.
• Identity monitoring: The e-mail addresses and other details you register are compared with known data leaks and you get an alert if they appear in one; the data types that can be monitored depend on the country.
• System and privacy check: A quick review lists the applications that request sensitive permissions and the device settings that weaken protection, with a short explanation of what to change.
